Before You Speak

1. Dress to help, not hinder, your speech. ->I need to improve this.

2. Limit the number of note cards you use. ->I’m already effective on this.

3. Step up to speak with confidence and authority. -> I need to improve this.

4. Get set. -> I need to improve this.

5. Establish contact with your audience. ->I’m already effective on.

While You’re Speaking

1. Maintain contact with your audience. ->I’m already effective on.

2. Begin without referring to your notes. ->I’m already effective on.

3. Refer to your note card only occasionally. -> I need to improve this.

4. Sound conversational, not as if reading or

delivering a memorized speech. ->I’m already effective on.

5. Avoid ah, so, ya know, well, okay, etc. -> I need to improve this.

6. Stop at the end of an idea: don’t hook sentences

together with and, and ah, etc. -> I need to improve this.

7. Maintain good posture. -> I need to improve this.


8. Don’t play with notes, pencil, clothes, etc. -> I need to improve this.


9. Speak loudly enough to be heard easily. -> I need to improve this.




My strengths in delivery are that I can talk about my topic with confidence if I am well prepared.


My weaknesses in delivery are that I do not speak loudly enough for the audience to listen.
